Undergraduate Minor Programs

Minor in Actuarial Science

Students who wish to minor in Actuarial Science must take at least 15 hours including the following courses:
  • AS 4140
  • AS 4230
  • AS 4340
  • RMI 3750
  • one other course offered by the Department of Risk Management and Insurance with an AS, RMI or PFP prefix
A grade of C- or higher is required in all courses counted toward the minor. A 2.5 GSU GPA is required for all courses counted in the minor. Pre-requisites for courses are required unless consent of the instructor is given.

Minor in Computer Information Systems
Students who wish to minor in CIS must take at least 15 hours including the following courses:
  • RCB students: 15 credit hours of CIS prefix courses, excluding CIS 2010
  • non-RCB students: 15 credit hours of CIS prefix courses.
A grade of C- or higher is required in all courses counted toward the minor. A 2.5 GSU GPA is required for all courses counted in the minor. Pre-requisites for courses are required unless consent of the instructor is given.

Minor in Finance
Students who wish to minor in Finance must take at least 15 hours in finance including the following courses:
  • RCB students: 15 credit hours of FI prefix courses including FI 4000 but excluding FI 3300
  • non-RCB students: 15 credit hours of FI prefix courses including FI 3300 and FI 4000
A grade of C- or higher is required in all courses counted toward the minor. A 2.5 GSU GPA is required for all courses counted in the minor. Pre-requisites for courses are required unless consent of the instructor is given.

Minor in Hospitality
Students who wish to minor in Hospitality must take at least 15 hours including the following courses:
  • HADM 3010
  • four additional 3000-level or 4000-level hospitality (prefix of HADM) courses for which the prerequisites have been met
A grade of C- or higher is required in all courses counted toward the minor. A 2.5 GSU GPA is required for all courses counted in the minor. Pre-requisites for courses are required unless consent of the instructor is given.

Minor in Marketing
Students seeking a minor in Marketing must complete 15-18 hours of 3000- and 4000-level MK-prefixed courses. A minor in Marketing must include MK 3010 (Basic Marketing) and MK 4100 (Buyer Behavior). Students pursuing a BBA with a minor in Marketing must take BCOM 3950 as a co-requisite for MK 4100 and a prerequisite for other 4000-level MK courses. Non-business majors may substitute one of the following courses, or a comparable upper-level course that emphasizes effective oral/written communication, for BCOM 3950:
  • ENGL 3130 Business Writing
  • SPCH 3010 Advanced Public Speaking
  • SPCH 3210 Business and Professional Communication
  • JOUR 3500 Public Relations
A grade of C- or higher is required in all courses counted toward the minor. A 2.5 GSU GPA is required for all courses counted in the minor. Pre-requisites for courses are required unless consent of the instructor is given.

Minor in Real Estate
Students who wish to minor in Real Estate must take at least 15 hours in real estate including the following courses:
  • RE3010
  • RE4050
  • RE4150
  • RE4160
  • one Real Estate prefix course offered at the 4000 level
A grade of C- or higher is required in all courses counted toward the minor. A 2.5 GSU GPA is required for all courses counted in the minor. Pre-requisites for courses are required unless consent of the instructor is given.

Minor in Risk Management and Insurance
Students who wish to minor in Risk Management and Insurance must take at least 15 hours of courses including the following:
  • RMI 3500
  • LglS 3020
  • LglS 4050
  • two other courses offered by the Department of Risk Management and Insurance with an AS, RMI or PFP prefix

A grade of C- or higher is required in all courses counted toward the minor. A 2.5 GSU GPA is required for all courses counted in the minor. Pre-requisites for courses are required unless consent of the instructor is given.
