
Master of Taxation (MTx)

Current Members at the BAR
Candidates who are established in careers as attorneys can be admitted into the School of Accountancy's MTAX program by meeting the following requirements:

Great opportunity for current GSU law students and members of the bar.

Complete a Master of Taxation in one of the country's largest MTx programs.

Total program hours are 33 of which 15 may be transferred from the GSU law school program. If you are currently a member of the bar, only six (6) hours may be transferred providing the courses to be transferred were taken in the last five (5) years.

No GMAT. Your LSAT score substitutes for a GMAT test. If your LSAT score is more than five (5) years old, you must be a member of the bar in good standing.

No Intermediate Accounting. Principles of Accounting I & II are all that are required.*

Easily completed within your three years of Law School.

Classes meet only one day per week.

All classes are at night (4:30 PM or 7:15 PM).

All classes are located at the downtown campus.

All MTx classes count towards CPA minimum hours for exam.

No requirement that you finish the MTx prior to taking the bar exam.
* This is not a waiver for foundational coursework listed in the graduate catalog at Section 7310.10 Regulations for the Degree, 2.a. Foundation and Prerequisites Courses.
Georgia State University College of Law
Candidates who are currently enrolled in the College of Law and have not graduated can use up to five courses, a total of 15 semester hours, taken in their Juris Doctor Program and apply them towards the MTx Degree. Courses must be in Tax and approved by the Program Director, Dr. Tad Ransopher.
The MTx program has a rolling admission policy and students can start any semester.
