Kathy Berry, a currently self-employed marketing consultant, has applied her business acumen to a variety of organizations, including 20 years of service to the Georgia Press Association (GPA), a statewide trade association composed of daily and weekly newspapers. Kathy spent the majority of her tenure with the GPA as Executive Director from 1978-1993, with responsibilities including strategic planning, government relations and lobbying, fundraising, design and execution of market research, sales and marketing management, financial management, and staff development. |
Kathy's leadership also is apparent in her dedication to several community service projects, with responsibilities such as the board and executive committee with the Piedmont Park Conservancy; the Board of Directors, Vice President of University Relations and Chair of the Nominations Committee with the Achievement Rewards for College Scientists; the Board of Directors with the Olmstead Linear Park Alliance; the Board of Directors with Communities in Schools of Georgia; and the development committee with the Georgia State University Board of Trustees. Kathy also spent 5 years on United Way of Atlanta's Fulton County Investment Committee.
Kathy's professional affiliations include the American Society of Association Executives, Newspaper Association Managers, Georgia Society of Association Executives and Georgia Chamber of Commerce.
Kathy earned a B.A. in Journalism and Marketing from Georgia State University and continued her education at the school in the Management-Executive M.B.A. program.
On top of so many professional endeavors, Kathy's hobbies include golf, tennis, travel, genealogy, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. |
