Jasiyah Khalil - BBA in Finance, class of 2010
Employer: Merrill Lynch
Title: Intern: Client Associate
My overall responsibilities with my current company: I have just finished setting up a streamlined customer scheduling system (2009-2012) for the team I work for using Salesforce software. It will help them with their Customer Relationship Management since they are in a transitional phase.
What I like most about my job: I am asked for my opinion about the task I have been given constantly, and I work for people who have been in the Financial Advisory industry for many years.
The undergraduate program in the Robinson College of Business has helped me achieve my career goals because
Many of the professors I took had a lot of professional experience and connections to bring to the classroom; the career center helped me plan how to start my career and played a great role in preparing me for the job seeking process through great career counselors.
What I liked most about attending Robinson:
- The great career center
- The other students I have met from many different backgrounds
- The location in the middle of downtown Atlanta (so many businesses are near RCB and many of the faculty members are active in Atlanta's business community)
Words of advice or encouragement I would to give current students or recent grads: Keep searching and keep applying to jobs and definitely take advantage of the employers that come to the campus looking for RCB students as well as the resources in RCB itself.
What else would you like to add that may be of interest to students or other alums? When I started the internship, I was a little intimidated to work at Merrill, but everyone was very helpful and nice to me. They were open to questions from me and always had advice for me with regards to my career path.
