Bradford Sill Undergraduate Economics Major, Full time job Story
Undergraduate & Graduate Education: Georgia State University, Robinson College of Business, Atlanta, GA Bachelor of Business Administration in Economics August 2007
Current position title and a brief overview about your work and your role in your organization: I currently work with Delta Airlines as an International Revenue Management Analyst. I work on the inventory side of the Asia, Caribbean, and Latin America team. As airlines face challenges presented by soaring oil process and heavy competition, it is now more important than ever for airlines to maximize their revenues by matching the flights and classes of service offered with their customers' willingness to pay. I am excited to be a part of Delta's solutions to these challenges especially as we are in the midst of an extensive global expansion.
How did you find your current position? The specific process I took first involved resume help and networking advice from my Robinson Career Advisor, Pam Herbik. This process also included similar advice from Ramons Simien in the University's Career Management Center. I owe a large debt of gratitude to both of these women for their time, advice and encouragement.
What is the best advice you would give current Robinson students about career preparation and planning? I would advise students to be persistent in their pursuit of the job they want. I was very persistent in pursuing the job I wanted and the gateway to the career that I had worked so hard to prepare for.
I would advise students to choose their major wisely. While I cannot claim to have known exactly the direction that I wanted to take when I chose my major, I knew that my primary interest was in international business economics. In support of this focus, I studied and researched in China during the summer of my junior and senior years.
Joining student organizations while in school is also a great idea. I was involved with Phi Chi Theta Business Fraternity to help develop my professional skills and I believe it helped me greatly in this regard.
And enlist the help of the Robinson Career Management Center!
