Behice Ece Ilhan
Behice Ece Ilhan is a fourth year PhD student in Marketing at University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, Graduate School of Business. She earned a BSc degree in Mechanical Engineering from Middle East Technical University, Turkey and a MBA in Finance/Marketing from Bilkent University, Turkey. Her research interests include consumption of new media, market enactment of rituals, and consumer culture theory. Behice's dissertation research, building on communication studies and consumer behavior, seeks to explore how transmedia narratives (narratives that unfold across different media platforms) are consumed. The dissertation will extend these insights to understand how marketers can help broaden and renovate the ways brand narratives are developed and consumed using various media. She has manuscripts under various stages of review at Journal of Retailing and Consumption, Markets, and Cultures. She has presented at conferences for the Association of Consumer Research (ACR), Consumer Culture Theory, Frontiers in Services Marketing Conference, Product Development and Management Association, and the American Marketing Association. She attended the Haring Symposium as a discussant. Behice is a trainee reviewer for the Journal of Consumer Research and ad hoc reviewer for conferences organized by Advances in Consumer Research, European Advances in Consumer Research, Journal of Marketing and Public Policy, and the American Marketing Association. She is a scuba diving assistant instructor and dive partner for handicapped divers. Time permitting, she likes traveling, knitting, and working out.
