
Three of Atlanta's most recognized business leaders were inducted into Georgia State University's 2001 Business Hall of Fame on April 12 at the Ritz-Carlton in downtown Atlanta. This year's inductees are:
- Pat Mitchell, president and chief executive officer of Public Broadcasting Service;
- F. Duane Ackerman, chairman and chief executive officer of BellSouth Corporation; and
- J. B. Fuqua, chairman of the Board of The Fuqua Companies.

Participating in the celebration and giving remarks were Georgia State University President Carl V. Patton; Robinson Dean Sidney Harris; Scott O. Seydel, chair, College Board of Advisors and President, The Seydel Companies; Milton H. Jones, Jr., President, Mid-South Banking Group, Bank of America; James H. Blanchard, Chairman & CEO, Synovus Financial Corp.; Julia W. Sprunt, Corporate Vice President, Public Relations, Human Resources & Corporate Resources, Turner Broadcasting System, Inc.; and Tom Johnson, Chairman & CEO, CNN.
Celebrating its 17th year, the Georgia State University Business Hall of Fame is the highest recognition given by the college to Atlanta-area business leaders for their efforts in advancing the principles of the free market system. The J. Mack Robinson College of Business Board of Advisors and Bank of America sponsor the Business Hall of Fame.
"Pat Mitchell, F. Duane Ackerman and J.B. Fuqua embody the type of leadership and achievement to which our students aspire," said Sidney Harris, dean of the J. Mack Robinson College of Business. "In addition to their business accomplishments, these three outstanding individuals are active in civic and nonprofit organizations, and they have had a significant positive impact on our community, setting a fine example for all of us to emulate," he said.
