Q. What qualifications must I possess in order to participate in the Robinson Professional MBA Program?
A. PMBA candidates should possess a minimum of four years of work experience. Students also should show a proven professional track record, demonstrating a certain level of achievement and increased responsibility in their careers.
The ability to perform well in a graduate business program is another criterion for our students. To a large extent, this is measured by the candidate's undergraduate grade-point average and GMAT scores.
Q. What other characteristics does the Admissions Committee look for in a student?
A.The PMBA Admissions Committee is looking for a diverse group of individuals to participate in each class. A variety of factors are taken into consideration, including work experience, grade-point average and GMAT scores. In addition, prospective students are required to participate in a personal interview.
Students are carefully chosen for the contributions they will make to the overall educational process. Each student possesses a unique set of skills and experiences that collectively creates a quality learning environment.
Q. What other traits should I possess?
A. Candidates should be willing to commit to a two-year lock-step program.
Q. Do I need a particular background to participate in the program?
A. PMBA students come from a wide spectrum of backgrounds, including such industries as finance, health care, public utilities and manufacturing. The service industry, government agencies, not-for-profit agencies and the public sector are represented, as well as privately and publicly held companies of all sizes. Many students serve in specific functional areas and are seeking to fill gaps in their formal management training in order to advance. The diversity of experience and specialties within each class enriches the learning process.
Q. How does the Professional MBA Program differ from the other MBA programs offered by the Robinson College of Business?
A. The PMBA program in Alpharetta, Downtown and Henry County is a predominantly weekend-based (Saturday) program. It is designed for professionals with at least four years' work experience who are seeking to complete their degree in 24 months without having to take time off from their career.

Similar to the EMBA program, the first year is lock-step. This structure ensures that students stay on-course and graduate in two or three years. However, unlike the EMBA program, students are given a choice among four electives and will vote on two that will be offered as cohorted electives during the second year. Students also have the option to attend an international or domestic residency.
In addition, the Professional MBA program is a mid-service program. Dedicated PMBA staff register students, order their books, provide snacks during class days and provide admission counseling to help make the return to school an easier transition.
Q. Is it important to attend an open house?
A. We encourage anyone who is considering applying for the PMBA program to attend. The sessions offer candidates an excellent opportunity to learn more about the program by meeting the faculty and staff. The program includes a brief presentation followed by a question and answer session.
