Overview:
Business process innovation examines how information technology can be used to improve business processes and outcomes. You will learn how to recognize business processes, assess their information-related pathologies and develop organizational agility enabled by information technology.
The course proceeds through five steps:
- Analyzing business processes and outcomes
- Resolving the innovators' dilemma
- Designing for organizational agility
- Enabling with information technology
- Managing process change
- Recognize IT business processes and
how they work
- Overcome organizational roadblocks and challenges faced by innovators
- Design new processes with organizational agility in mind

Lars Mathiassen, Ph.D., is a Professor, GRA Eminent Scholar, and the co-founder of The Center for Process Innovation at Robinson College. He approaches innovation and improvement initiatives with a strong focus on people skills and collaborative processes while at the same time emphasizing adoption of state-of-the-art technologies and methods. His research has been based on close partnerships with companies in a variety of industries including banking, insurance, hospitals, shipyards, car manufacturers, information technology, electronic equipment, pharmaceuticals, and software.
