Overview:
Successful executives and managers know well that the information technology (IT) investments
of an enterprise are most fruitful when they match technology strategy with business strategy. However, meaningful alignment of business and IT capabilities occurs only when business and technology managers possess the ability to form, implement, and execute strategy together.

Participants in this workshop will gain a practical understanding of how business strategy, business models, and competitive strategy are formed together with the role of IT in enabling or supporting those strategies. They become immersed in the use of information technology to influence the products, services, and competitiveness of enterprises, and in assessment of the impact of strategic deployment of information systems and technology.

Participants Will Learn to:
  • Formulate and evaluate corporate and competitive strategies
  • Relate their company's IT strategy to the development and marketing of products and services
  • Structure effective information technology strategies
  • Link business and information technology strategy
  • Evaluate the extent to which information strategy and business strategy are aligned in their enterprise
  • Devise execution plans for the implementation of information technology strategy
  • Judge the potential impact of new technologies and disruptive innovations
on the enterprise and on the industry in which their firm is engaged
Who Should Attend:
This interactive workshop is designed for business and information technology managers who set or evaluate their firm's IT strategy at the company, business unit, or support level. It is also for specialists or managers seeking a greater understanding of the linkage between business and IT or who are moving into information technology- related leadership roles.

Faculty:
James Senn, Ph.D., is a Professor and Director of the Center for Global Business Leadership, both in the Robinson College.
