New Partnership Puts Georgia State's Hospitality Program on-site at GWCC

Grand opening ceremonies were held Wednesday, August 15, for the new Georgia State University Hospitality Learning Center located at the Georgia World Congress Center (GWCC).

GSU Hospitality Learning Center The partnership between Georgia State's Cecil B. Day School of Hospitality and the GWCC is the first of its kind between a major university and a major convention facility involving an actual on-site classroom.  Opening ceremonies took place in the new Phil Noyes classroom in Building A of the Center. Georgia State President Carl Patton and Robinson College Dean H. Fenwick Huss provided remarks as did Noyes, who is head of the city's largest catering operation, Proof of the Pudding, and formerly the founding president of MGR, Inc.

The Center is the site for School of Hospitality classes as well as professional development programs involving a variety of hospitality sectors. The state-of-the-art classroom features multi-media instructional support including cameras that allow viewing of activities taking place in exhibit halls and throughout the GWCC campus. This technology provides real-time learning for students and participants enhancing the School's tradeshow, meeting and event management courses.

The Robinson College's Cecil B. Day School is the oldest, largest and only accredited hospitality program in Georgia. It is designed to prepare students to enter the hospitality industry as a manager. Graduates earn a Bachelor of Business Administration in hospitality. The diversified curriculum has a strong business component as well as specific hospitality courses that expose students to a variety of career opportunities.
