Poznań-Atlanta Program Robinson's First

As Robinson continues to expand its international programming, it is interesting to note that the first international partnership secured by the school, the Poznan-Atlanta EMBA program continues to thrive.

In operation since September 1995, the program bolsters Polish graduates' career prospects by strengthening their education utilizing Robinson's renowned faculty. Developed under the vision and leadership of former Robinson Dean John Hogan, and with the seed financing from a grant provided by the Andrew Mellon Foundation, the two-year program is now fully financially independent and graduates 30-35 business leaders per year.

Although classes are conducted in both Polish and English, prospective students are required to be able to speak fluent English as well as possess at least three years of business experience. Upon completion of the degree, graduates typically build a more solid network of contacts than their Polish MBA counterparts and earn up to 3.5 times more than professionals with some other type of Polish master's degree. Plus, graduates earn an MBA certificate issued jointly by both partner institutions in addition to a postgraduate diploma from the Poznań University of Economics.

The Poznań-Atlanta program is similar to the Robinson EMBA in both curriculum and scheduling. With classes primarily occurring on Saturdays and Sundays, students obtaining their degree can continue to work full-time, balancing academic pursuits with professional and familial obligations. Another factor contributing to the Poznań EMBA's strong reputation is the Polish faculty's high academic level and its willingness to collaborate and train with Robinson's senior faculty in Atlanta.

While being associated with a highly ranked college such as Robinson fortifies the Poznań program's image, this partnership is beneficial for the faculty in Atlanta as well. "When our professors travel abroad, they not only learn about the countries where our affiliate institutions are located but also develop research connections with the faculty there," Hogan says.

While cultures vary, business acumen remains constant across the globe. The Robinson-Poznań association gives future managers in Poland a practical, rigorous curriculum that prepares them for a future in the global business environment.
