Dr. Rajeev Dhawan, director of the Economic Forecasting Center, addressed 13 governors and other civic leaders at the 71st Annual Meeting of
the Southern Governors Association. In addition, Dhawan’s paper "Assessing the Resource Base of U.S. and Japanese Auto Producers: A Stochastic
Frontier Production Approach" has been accepted for publication in Management Science and will also be published in the Best Paper Proceedings of the 2005
Academy of Management Meeting.
Robert Klein, associate professor and director of the Center for Risk Management and Insurance Research, spoke in Chicago at the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) Financial Condition (E) Committee on economic and public issues concerning the funding of guaranty association coverage of the claims of insolvent insurance companies.
Perry Binder, assistant professor of legal studies, was a finalist in the prestigious national Master Teacher Competition sponsored by the Academy of Legal Studies in Business. Professor Binder discussed the legal strategies and ethical implications when company employees post comments on blogs and gripe sites.

Jane Mutchler, Ernst & Young-J. W. Holloway Memorial Alumni Professor of Accounting, has been named associate dean for Academic Planning and Programs. Mutchler is also an accomplished researcher. She began her one-year term as the president of the American Accounting Association (AAA) in August 2004 and previously served that organization in various capacities. Her three-year term on the AAA’s executive board will end in 2006. In addition, she was twice named to Business Finance magazine’s list of "Key Influencers" in a roundup of the 50 leaders who are shaping the future of accounting and finance (2004 and 2005).
Edward E. Rigdon, professor of marketing, has been named the new chair of the Marketing Department. Rigdon is an accomplished researcher in the area of interactive marketing and the statistical methodology of structural equation modeling (SEM). He has been published in leading marketing and research methodology journals. Rigdon is a cofounder of and frequent contributor to SEMNET, an e-mail discussion list devoted to SEM, which now has 1,900+ subscribers located in 50+ countries.
