Robinson Adds World-Renowned
Faculty
V. KUMAR
V. Kumar has been named the inaugural recipient of the Richard and
Susan Lenny Distinguished Chair in Marketing and Executive Director,
Center for Excellence in Brand and Customer Management.
Prior to joining Robinson, Kumar served as ING Chair, Professor and Executive Director of the ING Center for
Financial Services at the University of Connecticut. He has also served
as the Marvin Hurley Professor of Business Administration, Melcher
Faculty Scholar, and Director of Marketing Research Studies at the
University of Houston.
Kumar was recently cited as one of the top
five ranked scholars in marketing worldwide. In 2007, he was presented
with two Lifetime Contribution Awards for advancing the theory and
practice of marketing strategy and business-to-business marketing. He
serves on the editorial review boards of major marketing journals and
has received numerous best paper awards.
Kumar has taught in several MBA programs
around the world and consulted with Fortune 500 companies. He is also a
world-renowned keynote speaker and is a widely published author with
over 125 articles and books, including his most recent, titled Managing
Customers for Profit: Strategies to Increase Profits and Build Loyalty
(2008).
A member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society,
Kumar received his Bachelor’s in Engineering with honors and Master’s
in Industrial Management with honors from the Indian Institute of
Technology, and his Ph.D. in marketing from the University of Texas at
Austin.
S. TAMER CAVUSGIL
S. Tamer Cavusgil has been named Fuller E. Callaway Professorial Chair
and Director of the Institute of International Business.
Cavusgil comes to Robinson from Michigan
State University, where he was the inaugural holder of the John W.
Byington Endowed Chair in Global Marketing and was named MSU
Distinguished Faculty, the highest award given to a faculty member. He
also founded the Center for International Business Education and
Research (CIBER), a leading National Resource Center, in 1989, and
served as its executive director until 2008.
Cavusgil has also taught or held
administrative positions at Bradley University, the University of
Wisconsin, and Middle East Technical University. He recently was
appointed a Visiting Professor at Manchester Business School, and
Visiting Chair at the University of Cambridge, both in the United
Kingdom.
Cavusgil has authored more than a dozen
books and over 180 refereed journal articles. He is the founding editor
of the Journal of International Marketing, now published by the
American Marketing Association.
An elected Fellow of the Academy of
International Business (AIB), Cavusgil served a two-year term as vice
president of the AIB. He holds MBA and Ph.D. degrees in business from the
University of Wisconsin.
