Alan Ziobrowski, associate professor of real estate, has been named a recipient of the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis' (JFQA) William F. Sharpe Award for Scholarship in Financial Research for the best paper published in 2004.
The award was given in honor of Ziobrowski's paper, "Abnormal Returns from the Common Stock Investments of the United States Senate." (JFQA December 2004).
The William F. Sharpe Award recognizes excellence in financial research. Nominees for the award are selected from polling JFQA readers, subscribers and associate editors. The final award recipients are selected by the JFQA's associate editors.
Mark Keil, Board of Advisors Professor of Computer Information Systems, received the Georgia State University Alumni Distinguished Professor Award. The award is presented by the University's Alumni Association each spring to one faculty member for outstanding achievements in scholarship, teaching and service.
Karen M. Gibler, associate professor of real estate, has been awarded one of six Georgia Mentoring Grants for 2005. The purpose of the Faculty Mentoring Grant Pilot Project is to offer resources to support and enhance the scholarly productivity of female faculty members who are seeking promotion and/or tenure. Dr. Joseph Rabianski will be serving as Gibler's mentor as she works on her project, "Development of an Office Market Analysis Research Framework."
Gerald D. Gay, professor and chair of the finance department, and Jayant R. Kale, professor of finance, have been selected to be the co-editors of the Journal of Financial Research (JFR) for a three-year term beginning January, 2006. JFR is a general- interest academic finance journal that publishes theoretical and empirical papers in all areas of finance. The editorial office of JFR, which is published by Blackwell Publishing, will be housed in the finance department here at Robinson.
Jane Mutchler, Ernst & Young-J.W. Holloway Memorial Alumni Professor and associate dean, has been named Accountant of the Year by the Epsilon Upsilon Chapter of Beta Alpha Psi at Emory University's Goizueta Business School. Beta Alpha Psi is a national scholastic and professional fraternity for financial information students and professionals.
Naveen Donthu, Katherine S. Bernhardt Professor of Marketing, has had five papers accepted for publication in the following journals: International Journal of Mass Customization, Journal of Service Research, Journal of Business and Industrial Marketing, Journal of International Consumer Research and Industrial Marketing Management.
The Etiquette Edge: The Unspoken Rules for Business Success, written by Robinson business communications instructor Beverly Langford, was published in June by AMACOM press. AMACOM is the publishing arm of the American Management Association.
