WOMEN LEADING THE WAY
The 7th Annual Women's Leadership Forum, sponsored by the College, the Atlanta Business Chronicle and Sanders Financial Management, was held on Friday, April 29 at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Atlanta. More than 300 women executives, students, faculty and staff attended this year's event, which included panel discussions on topics such as starting your own business, why women make good leaders and relationship building. The program included opening speaker Charlotte Wingfield, partner of KPMG LLP and Margaret DeFrancisco, president and CEO of the Georgia Lottery Corporation. Chairs for the event were business communications instructors Maryann Wysor and Beverly Langford.
NEW ASSISTANT DEAN FOR DEVELOPMENT JOINS ROBINSON
Charles R. Edwards has joined the college in the newly created position of Assistant Dean for Development. Edwards has more than 30 years of business experience and led the effort that secured approximately $100 million of support for the 1996 Atlanta Paralympic Games.
Prior to joining Robinson, Edwards served as executive vice president and co-managing director in DHR International's Atlanta office, where he focused on recruiting board members and C-level executives. He also served as a partner with Ward Howell International, LAI Worldwide and TMP Worldwide. Before entering executive search, Edwards held a number of executive positions in systems engineering, sales and marketing over his 25-year career with IBM Corporation.
He currently serves as vice-chairman of the board for Luxcore Networks, and as a member of the Alliance Theatre Company board, Georgia State University Marketing Executive RoundTable and 100 Black Men of Atlanta. He is also an alum of Leadership Atlanta and chair of its Financial Development Committee.
Edwards holds BSE(IE) and MBA degrees from the University of Michigan and an MS (IE) degree from Wayne State University.
ROBINSON EXPANDS PROGRAMS TO BROOKHAVEN
The start of the Fall 2005 semester will mark the opening of the new Georgia State Brookhaven Center. Located just five minutes from Buckhead, The Brookhaven Center
will house Robinson's nationally ranked Flex MBA program.
The Brookhaven Center is being leased by
the college in order to provide a more convenient location for students who want
to obtain a Robinson MBA. Students at the Brookhaven Center will be taught by the same world-renowned faculty who teach at the downtown program and the curriculum also will be identical to that offered at the downtown location and in Alpharetta.
