August 30 - Georgia State's Robinson College of Business has cracked the Top 20 on another prestigious rankings list.
CPA Personnel Report's 20th Annual Survey of Accounting Professors2001 has listed the College as having the nation's 19th best graduate accounting program. It is the first time the Robinson College has made the list, which ranks the best accounting programs at both public and private universities.
Robinson College Dean Sidney E. Harris said the School of Accountancy's ranking "is just another indication of the high quality of our programs and our faculty and how the faculty are being recognized nationally by their peers and by the media."
The ranking comes on the heels of strong performances by Robinson in the U.S. News and World Report's graduate rankings, which listed the College's MBA program for working professionals as fifth in the nation and first among public universities. Also ranked by U.S. News were the school's graduate MIS and Health Administration programs. Robinson has also been ranked by Business Week (top 20 Executive MBA), Forbes (top 10 regional business school for return on investment), Success Magazine (37th best entrepreneurship program) and the Academy of Management Journal (19th best for faculty research).
School of Accountancy Chair Jane Mutchler said, "The success of this program comes from the fact that we've ratcheted up the admission standards and minimum GPA and GMAT scores, and we've toughened our classes." Mutchler also noted that, like all programs at the Robinson College, the School of Accountancy benefits from being located in downtown Atlanta's business center, which helps attract quality students and enhances the learning experience.
The ranking of accounting faculty appears in the September, 2001 issue of the CPA Personnel Report.
