RCB Teams With Resource Forum on Business Plan Award

November 20, 2001 - The college's Herman J. Russell Sr. International Center for Entrepreneurship announced today that it is teaming with the Resource Forum in sponsoring the New Enterprise Award 2002. The award is the nation's largest, privately funded business plan competition in the United States, awarding over $60,000 in cash and services. Instituted in 1999, the award recognizes and rewards creative individuals or teams who generate new ideas for technology businesses.

"We are honored to be a participant in this program," said Ben Oviatt, director of the Center. "It is an ideal complement to our own Moses Lee Reid Business Plan Competition in that it will allow those with new ideas yet another opportunity to gain recognition and financial backing."

In addition to the overall prize, a $1,000 student award will also be presented. "The best business plan winner in the education category will also be eligible to receive the big prize," noted Oviatt.

The competition is open to all Georgia residents and GSU faculty and students are encouraged to enter by submitting a 500-word overview of their business concept to the Resource Forum at http://www.newenterpriseaward.com/.

Questions may be directed to Dr. Oviatt at benoviatt@gsu.edu or by calling 404-413-7542.
