ATLANTA - Four programs in the J. Mack Robinson College of Business are among the best in the nation, according to the latest undergraduate program rankings just released by U.S. News and World Report.
In the magazine's September special edition titled "America's Best Colleges," Georgia State's Robinson College was listed as having the Number 2 ranked risk management and insurance program in the nation, the 11th best e-commerce program, the 13th best management information systems (MIS) program and the 23rd best management program. U.S. News also earmarks public schools and, among all the nation's public college and university business programs, Robinson ranks 1st in risk management and insurance, 5th in e-commerce, 9th in MIS and 18th in management.
Robinson also retains the 8th position overall (6th among publics) in the real estate program category, which was not listed this year, but did appear in the 2001 U.S. News "America's Best Colleges" issue.
The rankings are the result of reputational surveys sent to deans and senior faculty at business schools around the nation. The full rankings may be viewed at the magazine's web site at usnews.com.
"We are very pleased that once again Robinson programs have gained superior rankings amid steadily increasing competition," said Dean Sidney E. Harris, "It is a tribute to the quality of our programs and our faculty."
Harris also noted that "these rankings are even more significant because they are based upon the opinion of our peers across the country."
The undergraduate rankings come on the heels of strong performances by Robinson's graduate programs. U.S. News ranked the College's part-time MBA as the 5th best in the nation and 1st among public universities. It was the sixth consecutive year that the part-time or "flexible" MBA program was ranked in the top 10. Other graduate programs ranked were MIS, 11th overall (6th among publics), and Health Administration (35th and 12th).
In addition to the U.S. News rankings, the College's Executive MBA program is ranked by Business Week magazine as one of the "top 20 leading programs" in the nation. Robinson is also recognized by Forbes for being the best business school in Georgia and among the top ten best regional business schools in the nation for return on investment; by SUCCESS magazine for having one of the top 50 entrepreneurship programs in the nation; by the Academy of Management Journal for faculty research productivity; and, most recently, by the CPA Personnel Report which listed Robinson's graduate accounting program as one of the nation's top 20.
