November 13, 2002 (Atlanta, Georgia) - Winners of the 2002 Georgia Business Ethics Awards were announced at an awards luncheon held on Thursday, November 7 at the downtown Capital City Club.
The Georgia Business Ethics Awards are presented by the Society of Financial Service Professionals' Atlanta Chapter and Georgia State University's J. Mack Robinson College of Business.
These Awards recognize businesses that exemplify a strong commitment to ethical practices as demonstrated in every day business dealings and in response to specific crisis and challenges. The award was presented in two categories: midsize and small company. We are proud to announce local recipients of 2002 Georgia Business Ethics Award (GBEA):
Midsize Company - Party City of Atlanta, Inc.
Small Company - Professional Management Resources, Inc.
"GBEA recipients are companies that espouse to do the right thing, no matter what the business cost may be," said Ellwood Oakley, associate professor of legal studies at Robinson College and chair of the judging panel. "These local companies have demonstrated what's right about American business."
Local GBEA recipients were selected by an independent panel of judges drawn from academia and business. Companies were evaluated according to criteria established to measure the organization's commitment to sound ethical business practices in management philosophies and everyday operations.
Local recipients move up to a national competition for the American Business Ethics Award. Previous recipients include: EDS, Kiplinger, RS Information Systems, Niagara Mohawk, Starbucks Coffee Company, Levi Strauss, Texas Instruments, Lockheed Martin and Bell Atlantic.
