IN ZONE Brands Interactive Beverages: BellyWashers and Tummy Ticklers demonstrate award-winning marketing

February 14, 2003 (ATLANTA, GA) -- Organizers of the Marketing Award for Excellence (MAX) today announced the Grand Winner of this year's 11th Annual MAX Award is IN ZONE Brands for its Interactive Beverages category and the BellyWashers and Tummy Tickler brands for kids. They're the fusion of a great tasting juice drink, a reusable toy-like bottle, and a collectible assortment of the hottest kids characters.

Additionally, the MAX Awards named two Winners at the breakfast: The Atlanta Falcons for The Atlanta Falcons Total Marketing Program and The Coca Cola Company for its Fridge Pack.

Winners were chosen from a group of finalists selected last month by the Georgia State University Marketing RoundTable, which is comprised of senior marketing executives from many of Atlanta's top companies. Included were BabyMint for BabyMint College Savings MasterCard, ChoicePoint for National Criminal File, EarthLink for Pop-Up Blocker, Georgia Power Company for Flat Bill, The Simmons Company for Olympic Queen Mattress, United Parcel Service for UPS CampusShip and The Weather Channel for Notify!.

"In MAX Awards tradition, the Grand Winner is selected by the GSU RoundTable for exemplary marketing innovation," commented Dr. Ken Bernhardt, regents professor of marketing at Georgia State University Robinson College of Business Department of Marketing. "The judges were impressed with IN ZONE's creativity in developing a new category in an extremely competitive industry. Given limited resources, the company leveraged its channel partnerships, targeted communications, and pricing strategy, resulting in the successful launch of the new products."

The winners were presented MAX Awards at the annual awards breakfast held today at the Grand Hyatt Atlanta in Buckhead.  The program was led by Ed Baker, publisher of the Atlanta Business Chronicle and Dr. Ken Bernhardt. Tom Noonan, CEO of Internet Security Systems, was the featured keynoter.

Also announced during the breakfast ceremony were recipients of the 2003 GSU Marketing RoundTable Outstanding Minority Marketing Student Scholarship. Lionel Batiste, a May 2004 M.B.A. candidate of Riverdale, Ga.  and Keeron Emmanuel, a December 2003 M.B.A. candidate of Decatur, Ga. were each presented a scholarship by Craig Apatov, senior vice president and chief marketing officer for GMAC Bank, and chair of the GSU Marketing RoundTable.
