Robinson College Launches Center for Global Business Leadership
Knowledge-sharing to enhance student readiness for global business leadership

January 15, 2003 (ATLANTA, GA) -- International business leader roundtables, executive development programs,  and collaborative research between the public and private sector are a few of the initiatives planned for the new Center for Global Business Leadership announced today by Georgia State's Robinson College of Business.

Under the direction of Karen Loch, director of the Institute of International Business, the new center will foster an environment of learning, research and changing practices aimed at issues of common concern among the global business community.

In making the announcement, Robinson Dean Sidney E. Harris said, "over the past few years, Robinson College has emerged as one of the leading schools for global business. Our programs serve not only to prepare our students for the global marketplace but also act as a bridge between the academic and business world. Through the Center for Global Business Leadership, we are taking the next step in providing a forum for business leaders, students and faculty to share knowledge and ideas about the challenges of global business leadership."

In addition to the international business leaders' roundtables and collaborative research programs, the Center will develop executive training programs to address key issues within the minority areas of global business leadership.

"The Center and its programs are designed to provide new insight and understanding of leadership issues for those on the front lines of global business," said H. Fenwick Huss, associate dean. "Our overall vision is to become an internationally recognized, premier center of knowledge and resources on global business leadership practices and issues."

The Center was co-founded by several Robinson faculty members representing all disciplines including: William Bommer, assistant professor of management; Deborah Butler, assistant professor of management; Irene Duhaime, professor of management and Zwerner Chair of Entrepreneurship and Family Business; Sevgin Eroglu, associate professor of marketing; Joan Gable, associate professor of risk management & insurance; Christopher Lemley, instructor in marketing; Lalitha Naveen, assistant professor of finance; James Senn, professor of CIS; Galen Sevcik, associate professor of accounting; Harold Skipper, professor and chairman of risk management and insurance; Detmar Straub, Robinson distinguished professor of CIS and director of doctoral programs; Andrew Sumner, director for the Institute in Health Administration and Director and Marta White, assistant professor of management.
