October 1, 2004 (Atlanta) - AGL Resources and PBD Worldwide Fulfillment Services were this year’s recipients of the 2004 Georgia Business Ethics Awards sponsored by the J. Mack Robinson College of Business and the Society of Financial Service Professionals' Atlanta Chapter.
"The recipients are companies that espouse to doing the right thing," said Ellwood Oakley, associate professor of legal studies at Robinson College and chair of the judging panel. "These local companies have demonstrated what's right about American business."
Recipients were selected by an independent panel of judges drawn from business and academia. Companies were evaluated based on their commitment to sound ethical business practices in management philosophies and everyday operations.
The awards ceremony was held at the Georgian Club. Guest speaker for the event was Dr. John Knapp, founder and president of The Southern Institute for Business and Professional Ethics.
Local recipients move up to a national competition for the American Business Ethics Award. Previous recipients include: EDS, Kiplinger, RS Information Systems, Niagara Mohawk, Starbucks Coffee Company, Levi Strauss, Texas Instruments, Lockheed Martin and Bell Atlantic.
