December 8, 2004 - Eleven students at the College have been awarded international scholarships through three separate scholarship programs -- Nita Robinson Scholars Program, Sid and Mary Harris Travel Abroad Fund, and the Business International Education Grant (BIE). Awards range from a total of $500 to $1500 and will be used towards the students' study abroad or international internship programs.
This year's recipients are:
Rohit Bhatia -- a graduate student pursuing a specialized master's in International Business. Bhatia will use the grant toward a study abroad in Paris. James Fulks a graduate student pursuing a specialized master's in International Business. Fulks will use the grant toward a study abroad in China. Sara Taylor -- graduate student pursuing an MBA. Taylor will use the grant toward a study abroad in China. Divya Srivastarva a graduate student pursuing an MBA with a concentration in marketing and finance. Srivastarva will use the grant for a study abroad in Paris. Derek Medlin a graduate student pursuing a specialized master's in International Business with a concentration in marketing. Medlin will use the grant for a study abroad in South America. Sebastian Mathews a graduate student pursuing a specialized master's in International Business. Mathews will use the grant for a study abroad in Paris. Lindsay Sain an undergraduate student pursuing a degree in real estate. Sain will use the grant for a study abroad in Switzerland. Sabrina Jarvis an undergraduate student pursuing a degree in management. Jarvis will use the grant for a study abroad in England. Ashley Wilkinson an undergraduate student pursuing a degree in marketing. Wilkinson will use the grant for a study abroad in Italy. Leisy Julien an undergraduate student pursuing a degree in management. Julien will use the grant for a study abroad in England. Florena Mitrojorgji an undergraduate business student. Mitrojorgji will use the grant for a study abroad in Switzerland.
The Nita Robinson Scholars Program was established in 2000 by the College's naming benefactor, J. Mack Robinson, in honor of his wife and is designed to further international study opportunities. Recipients are selected based on demonstrated interest in international business through career aspirations, academic achievement, community involvement and work experience.
The Sid and Mary Harris Travel Abroad Fund was established in 2004 by the College's former Dean, Sidney E. Harris, and his wife to support students who wish to further their program of study through an international experience.
The BIE Grant is made possible through the U.S. Department of Education.
