June 21, 2005 (Atlanta) - The J. Mack Robinson College of Business is a co-sponsor and major participant in the Atlanta Competitive Advantage Conference being held June 23-26 at the Emory University Conference Center.
Bill Bogner, associate chair of the Department of Managerial Sciences, Irene Duhaime, associate dean and former chair, and Ben Oviatt, professor in Managerial Sciences and director of the Herman J. Russell International Center for Entrepreneurship are members of the organizing committee for the event, which is bringing together between 100-125 academics and PhD students to review and analyze research which will help businesses become more competitive in the global marketplace.
The event, which was originated in 2004 by a group of faculty from Robinson, Emory and Georgia Tech, is cosponsored by the Goizueta School of Business at Emory, the Georgia Tech College of Management and Robinson. Additional sponsorship and support is being provided by the Herman J. Russell International Center for Entrepreneurship, along with the Ewing Foundation and Emory Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. Brighthouse, an "idea creation" company for business, headed by former Atlanta ad agency mogul Joey Reiman, is the featured co-sponsor. Reiman will also speak.
In addition to the organizers, several other faculty members from Robinson's Managerial Sciences Department will present papers and serve as discussants including Asli Arikan, Ilgaz Arikan and Pamela Barr. As one of the three sponsoring schools, Robinson College will also have PhD students in Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship participate in all of the sessions.
