Georgia State's Robinson College of Business Names
New Assistant Dean for Development
March 11, 2005 (Atlanta) - The J. Mack Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University has named Charles R. Edwards to the newly created position of Assistant Dean for Development. Edwards has more than 30 years of business experience and led the effort that secured approximately $100 million of support for the 1996 Atlanta Paralympic Games. He will report to Dean H. Fenwick Huss.
Says Edwards of his new position, "I am delighted to have the opportunity to lead the development activities for the Robinson College. The college has established a significant track record and, with its high quality faculty and students, will continue to be one of the Atlanta business community's most valued assets."
According to Huss, "Edwards vast experience and success in the corporate and philanthropic arenas makes him an ideal candidate for this position."
Prior to joining Robinson, Edwards served as executive vice president and co-managing director in DHR International's Atlanta office where he focused on recruiting board members and C-level executives. He also served as a partner with Ward Howell International, LAI Worldwide and TMP Worldwide. Before entering executive search, Edwards held a number of executive positions in systems engineering, sales and marketing over his 25-year career with IBM Corporation.
He currently serves as Vice-Chairman of the board for Luxcore Networks, Alliance Theatre Company Board member, Georgia State University Marketing Executive Roundtable member, 100 Black Men of Atlanta member and chair of the Financial Development Committee, alumni of Leadership Atlanta, and an active participant in many church auxiliaries.
Edwards holds a BSE(IE) and MBA degrees from the University of Michigan, and an MS (IE) degree from Wayne State University.
