Robinson Hospitality Leadership Speakers Series Hosts Renowned Hotelier Horst Schulze
March 8, 2005 (Atlanta) - Horst Schulze, president and CEO of The West Paces Hotel Group and former President and Chief Operating Officer for The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, will discuss leadership and the importance of quality at the J. Mack Robinson College of Business on Thursday, March 17th at 4:30 p.m. in the Aderhold Learning Center. Schulze's presentation is part of the College's Cecil B. Day School of Hospitality's Leadership Speaker's Series
Schulze served as the vice chairman of The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, L.L.C. Previously he served as president and chief operating officer of The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, L.L.C., a position he held since 1988. Under his leadership, the Company was twice awarded the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award and has been continuously voted "best hotel company in the world" by convention and trade publications.
A recognized leader in the hospitality industry, Schulze was named "corporate hotelier of the world" by HOTELS Magazine in 1991 and awarded the prestigious Ishikawa Medal in 1995 for his personal contributions to the quality movement. In January 2002, Schulze was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by Hotel, Sales & Marketing Association International.
Today, he serves as a director on several boards including Reliance Trust Company, Cancer Treatment Research Foundation, Cancer Treatment Centers of America and The Travel Institute
