Robinson to Co-Sponsor MIT Forum Speakers Series
Scientific-Atlanta Founder Featured Guest
March 17, 2005 (Atlanta) - Glen P. Robinson, founder and former Chairman and CEO of Scientific-Atlanta, Inc., will be the featured speaker at the MIT Enterprise Forum's "Distinguished Entrepreneur" Series co-sponsored by the J. Mack Robinson College of Business. This breakfast event is open to all MIT Forum members and will be held on Wednesday, March 23rd at 7:30 a.m. at Tech High School in Atlanta.
Robinson will share his story about how he and his team grew Scientific-Atlanta from an initial investment of $600 to a $200 million enterprise. Today, Scientific Atlanta is a $1.7 billion company, whose innovative technology has changed the way consumers interact with their televisions. The company is also a leading supplier of transmission networks for broadband access to the home, digital interactive subscriber systems for video, high speed Internet and voice over IP (VoIP) networks.
J. Lawrence Bradner, senior vice president of Scientific-Atlanta, and president of SciCare Broadband Services Sector, will moderate the event. Bradner will also share anecdotes about the company's successful approach to pushing the technology "envelope" over the 50+ years since Scientific-Atlanta was founded.
The MIT Enterprise Forum of Atlanta is a volunteer, non-profit organization whose mission is to provide educational programs and services that promote and strengthen innovation at the intersection of business and technology in the Southeast.
