Senior Treasury Official to Discuss Economic Growth in Atlanta

January 5, 2006 - Treasury Deputy Secretary Robert M. Kimmitt will travel to Georgia Friday to discuss President Bush's agenda for a strong and vibrant economy with local business leaders in Atlanta.

Following a tour of the IRS Service Center facilities in Atlanta, the Deputy Secretary will meet local business leaders to discuss the U.S. economy and the outlook for 2006. He will participate in an open-press roundtable discussion hosted by the J. Mack Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University at 12:30 p.m. (EST) on Jan. 6 at the Commerce Club in downtown Atlanta (34 Broad Street, NW, 18th Floor, Bennett Brown Room).

The Deputy Secretary is the number two post at the Treasury Department. President George W. Bush nominated Kimmitt to be Deputy Secretary on June 29, 2005. The United States Senate unanimously confirmed him on July 29, 2005, and he was sworn into office on August 16, 2005.
