Georgia State University's Robinson College of Business Inducts 2007 Business Hall of Fame Honorees  

May 10, 2007 - (ATLANTA, GA) - Four business and community leaders were inducted into the J. Mack Robinson College of Business Hall of Fame in a ceremony held last evening at the InterContinental in Buckhead.  Sandra E. Bergeron, chairman of the board for TraceSecurity, Inc.; Richard Lenny, chairman, president and CEO of The Hershey Company; Parker H. "Pete" Petit, chairman and CEO of Matria Healthcare, Inc.; and Alexis Scott, publisher of The Atlanta Daily World were honored at the dinner.

The Business Hall of Fame provides the highest recognition given by the college to business leaders for their efforts in advancing the principles of the free market system while serving Atlanta's national and international business communities.  

"Each of our honorees has distinguished themselves not only for the successes they have achieved in business but also for their contributions to the communities they serve," said H. Fenwick Huss, dean of the J. Mack Robinson College of Business.  "Sandra, Rick, Pete, and Alexis exemplify the spirit of the Business Hall of Fame and we are honored to recognize their contributions."

.Sandra E. Bergeron

Sandra Bergeron is chairman of the board for TraceSecurity a leading provider of on-demand security compliance software and services. A Robinson graduate, Bergeron is one of the best known and respected female technology leaders in Silicon Valley. Prior to TraceSecurity, she held several executive positions at McAfee Inc. including senior vice president of U.S. Sales, president of the PGP Security Business Unit and executive vice president of Mergers/Acquisitions and Corporate Strategy. In addition to her role at TraceSecurity, she currently serves as a director of ArcSight Inc., Qualys Inc., TriCipher Inc., and is a venture adviser to Trident Capital. She sits on the board of advisors for the Robinson College of Business.

Bergeron has testified before Congress on how government and private industry can better pre pare for virus attacks, and she served on the Silicon Valley Blue Ribbon Task Force on Aviation Security and Technology. In 2003, Information Security magazine named her one of the top 25 Women of Vision.

Richard Lenny

Richard Lenny, a Robinson graduate, is chairman, president and Chief Executive Officer of The Hershey Company, the leading manufacturer of quality confectionery and snack products. Prior to joining Hershey in he was president, Nabisco Biscuit Company. Following Kraft's acquisition of Nabisco in 2000, Lenny was group vice president of Kraft Foods and president, Nabisco Biscuit and Snacks. 

Lenny serves on the Board of Directors of McDonald's Corporation. He also is the Chairman of the Board of the Grocery Manufacturers Association, and chairs its Executive Committee. He's a member of the Board of Directors of the Hershey Trust Company; the Board of Managers of the Milton Hershey School; the Board of Trustees of the Central Pennsylvania Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society; the Alumni Advisory Board of Northwestern's Kellogg Graduate School of Management; the Board of Trustees of Georgia State University, and the Board of Advisors of the Robinson College of Business, Georgia State University.  In 2006, Supermarket News named Lenny to it 's "Power 50 - Fifty People Who Drive the Food Industry", and Institutional Investor magazine named him one of the "Best CEOs in America" in the food category.

Parker H. "Pete" Petit

Parker "Pete" Petit, also a Robinson alumnus, has served as chairman of the board of Matria Healthcare since the formation of the Company through the merger of Healthdyne Maternity Management, a subsidiary of Healthdyne, Inc. and Tokos Medical Corp. in 1996, and as CEO since 2000.  
 
In 1970, Mr. Petit founded Healthdyne, an internationally based healthcare company that manufactured high technology healthcare devices, provided healthcare information systems and technology, and provided healthcare services and disease management.

Petit currently serves on the Board of Directors of Intelligent Systems Corporation and Logility, Inc.  He has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Georgia Research Alliance, which is chartered by the state of Georgia to promote high technology and scientific development in the state, and he is a 1994 inductee into the Technology Hall of Fame of Georgia. In 1995, he endowed the Petit Institute for Bioengineering and Biosciences at Georgia Tech and in 2005 gave a $5 million gift to Georgia State University for Parker H. Petit Science Teaching Laboratory.

Alexis Scott

M. Alexis Scott is publisher of the Atlanta Daily World, a newspaper founded by her grandfather in 1928.  In 1932, the paper became the nation's first black-owned daily newspaper. 

Scott joined the family business in 1997, following a 22-year career with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and Cox Enterprises, Inc., where she worked her way up from reporter to vice president/community affairs at the Journal-Constitution and then director of diversity at Cox. 

In addition to her duties as publisher of the newspaper, Scott is a regularly featured commentator on "The Georgia Gang," a week-in-review program on politics broadcast on FOX 5 in Atlanta. She is also a member of the board of directors of the Atlanta Life Financial Group. Scott is active in nonprofit organizations and is a member of the boards of the High Museum of Art, the Piedmont Park Conservancy; the Historic South View Cemetery Preservation Foundation; the Atlanta History Center, the Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau and Central Atlanta Progress.

Scott has received many awards and honors, including the 2005 Millennium Pacesetter Award from the Atlanta Business League and a 2004 Georgia Press Association Award. She also was named among "20 Women Making a Mark on Atlanta" in 1998 by Atlanta Magazine, and received the 1998 Pioneer Black Journalist by the Atlanta Association of Black Journalists.
