February 23, 2007 (Atlanta, GA) Organizers of the 15th Annual Marketing Awards for Excellence (MAX Awards) today announced MillerZell's Vistakon Merchandising Program as the Grand Winner. Presented by Georgia State University's Robinson College of Business Department of Marketing and Atlanta Business Chronicle, the MAX Awards are Georgia's most prestigious marketing awards event and honor innovation, great marketing, and the success of Georgia businesses.
MillerZell is a leading provider of world-class selling environments, shopper experiences and retail communications. MillerZell worked with their client, Vistakon, a Johnson & Johnson company, to raise their profile and profits within the vision care marketplace, through a comprehensive redesign of Wal-Mart's Vision Centers. In addition to MillerZell as Grand Winner, there were two winners, Kimberly-Clark for the Microcuff Pediatric Endotracheal Tube and Xtreme Fence for the Trinity Fence. Winners were chosen from a group of finalists selected by the Georgia State University Marketing RoundTable, which is comprised of senior marketing executives from many of Atlanta's top companies. Mack Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University. "The three winners this year used out of the box thinking to develop programs which gave them significant competitive advantage. Each of these case studies demonstrates how product and service innovation, supported by great marketing, can lead to market success."
The winners were presented MAX Awards at the annual awards breakfast held today at The Grand Hyatt Atlanta in Buckhead. This year's keynote speaker was Daryl G. Brewster, president and CEO of Krispy Kreme.
Also announced during the breakfast ceremony were this year's recipients of the 2007 GSU Marketing RoundTable Outstanding Minority Marketing Student Scholarship:
Melloney Douce, MBA student and currently employed by IBM Corporation. Douce has a B.A. in Psychology and Philosophy from the University of Western Ontario, and a Juris Doctorate from Duquesne University School of Law. Casey P. Williams, MBA student and currently a senior category marketing manager at Georgia-Pacific Corporation. Williams also has a B.S. in business administration from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
