- (ATLANTA, GA) - Organizers of the 16th Annual Marketing Awards for Excellence (MAX Awards) today announced UPS' Delivery Intercept as the Grand Winner. Presented by Georgia State University's Robinson College of Business Department of Marketing and Atlanta Business Chronicle, the MAX Awards are Georgia's most prestigious marketing awards event and honor innovation, great marketing and the success of Georgia businesses.

UPS is the world's largest package delivery company and a leading global provider of specialized transportation and logistics services. Unveiled as the industry's only Web-enabled package interception service, Delivery Intercept gives UPS customers more flexibility and control by enabling shippers to intercept and reroute packages before they're delivered. In addition to UPS as Grand Winner, there were two winners: STEEM for the ScoutParents program and InterfaceFLOR for the ReEntry®2.0/RePriseTM Collection. Winners were chosen from a group of finalists selected by the Georgia State University Marketing RoundTable, which comprises senior marketing executives from many of Atlanta's top companies.

"The MAX Awards winners are selected for developing creative and innovative marketing solutions that provide significant value to the targeted consumer," said Ken Bernhardt, Regents Professor of Marketing and Assistant Dean for Corporate Relations at the J. Mack Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University. "Most importantly, the three winners listened to their target consumer and recognized a true need or problem within the marketplace. Utilizing out-of-the-box thinking, exemplary communication and solid execution, each winner demonstrates how product and service innovation can lead to tremendous success."

The winners were presented MAX Awards at the annual awards breakfast held today at the Georgia Aquarium. The keynote speaker at the event was James McCaffrey, Executive Vice President, Operations and Strategy, and Chief Strategy Officer for Turner Broadcasting System Inc.

Also announced during the breakfast ceremony were this year's recipients of the 2008 GSU Marketing RoundTable Outstanding Minority Marketing Student Scholarship:
  • Michael C. Johnson, Master of Business Administration student, who will graduate in May 2009
  • Alexis Nieves, currently a marketing manager for the Office of Executive Programs at the J. Mack Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University and Master of Science in Marketing student, who will graduate in 2009
  • Janet A. Smith, currently a field marketing manager of culture and entertainment for Red Bull Energy Drink North America and Master of Science in Marketing student, who will graduate in 2008

The annual Marketing Award for Excellence (MAX) recognizes the creative genius of marketers and marketing in Georgia. Sponsored by Georgia State University's J.
