VI. RESEARCH PROGRAM COMMITTEE
The membership of the Research Program committee is comprised of a representative from each academic unit, who is a tenured faculty member or is a faculty member holding graduate faculty status. Representatives are elected for a three-year term by the faculty of the academic unit at the time of the election of representatives to the University Senate. The associate dean or other Dean's designee with corresponding responsibilities serves as an ex-officio, non-voting member of the committee.
The associate dean or other Dean's designee with corresponding responsibility recommends to the Dean for appointment, with the concurrence of the head of the faculty member's academic unit, a member of the Research Program Committee to serve as chair for a one-year term.
The conditions of appointment of the chair are recommended to the Dean by the head of the faculty member's academic unit and the associate dean or other Dean's designee with corresponding responsibility for approval prior to the start of the term of appointment.
C. RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS
Responsibilities of the Research Program Committee shall include, but not be limited to, the following:
Develop policies and procedures, for the review and recommendation of the Executive Committee and Faculty Affairs Committee, for the allocation of summer course releases to faculty for research.
Review and rank order by quality the summer course release proposals submitted for award.
In addition to discharging the duties of chairing the Research Program Committee, the chair will also serve as a resource person to faculty in the development of course release proposals.
