Carl R. Zwerner Prize in Business Ethics
The Carl R. Zwerner Prize in Business Ethics was funded by alumnus Carl R. Zwerner and his wife, Dr. Jane Mary Zwerner, to recognize students who demonstrate great potential for success in the global business environment, based on ethical conduct, integrity and community involvement.

Faculty Scholarship Award

To acknowledge a continuous and long-term commitment to academic excellence.  Awarded to students who maintain a 4.0 grade point average in the course of accruing a minimum of 36 semester hours over a period of no more than four consecutive semesters in residence at Georgia State University within a period of 36 months.

The Matrix Resources, Inc. Scholarship
The Matrix Resource Inc. awards two scholarships to Junior or Senior undergraduate students in the CIS department based on their outstanding academic performance. The recipients of this award receive a cash award and a certificate.

William W. Cotterman Outstanding Student Award
Each year, the computer information systems department honors the student in the MS-CIS program with the most outstanding academic record. Called the William W. Cotterman Award, it is named for the first chairman of the CIS department at Georgia State University. Winners of this award receive a cash award and their names are engraved on a plaque that hangs in the lobby of the CIS department.

James P. Rozelle Outstanding Programmer Award
Each year, the computer information systems department honors the student in the CIS  program with the most outstanding academic record in the programming courses. Called the James P. Rozelle Outstanding Programmer award, it is named for a former faculty member of the CIS department at Georgia State University. Winners of this award receive a cash award and their names are engraved on a plaque that hangs in the lobby of the CIS department.

H. Talmage Dobbs, Jr. Outstanding Finance Student Award
This award is named after Mr. H. Talmage Dobbs, Jr., past chairman of the board of Life of Georgia and a Georgia State alum.  The award is presented to the outstanding undergraduate finance major over the past year.  The criteria used to determine the recipients include classroom performance and recommendations from past instructors.

This award is given to an undergraduate finance major in honor of Jack Dunn, former Commissioner of Banking and Finance for the State of Georgia.  The recipient of this award is chosen based on the student’s academic record.

Endowed in memory of Evelyn S. Bowyer, alumna and longtime Georgia State employee, by family, friends and colleagues, this award is given annually to a woman majoring in Finance.

R. C. Williams, M.D., Honor Award
The R. C. Williams, M.D., Honor Award was established to honor the late Dr. Williams, who founded the Hospital Administration program at GSU in 1952.  The award is given to the MBA/MHA student demonstrating outstanding leadership in the profession through university, community and work-related endeavors.

Everett A. Johnson Scholarship
The Everett A. Johnston Scholarship was established to honor Dr. Johnson, a long-time leader in health administration, upon his retirement as Institute Director in 1998. The scholarship is awarded to an MBA/MHA student for academic excellence.

R. J. Knobel Scholarship
This scholarship was established upon Dr. Roland “Knob” Knobel’s retirement in 1985, after teaching in the Institute since 1970.  Academic performance and financial need are considered in making these two awards, one to a first-year student and one to a second-year student in the MBA/MHA program.

Georgia CCIM Chapter Scholarship
Funded by the Commercial Investment Real Estate Institute, the scholarship is given annually to one undergraduate real estate major planning a career in commercial real estate.  In addition to the cash award, the recipient receives complimentary enrollment in the first course toward receiving the CCIM designation.  The selection criteria include academic achievement, extracurricular activities, communication skills, and professional commitment.

2003 Robert W. Batten Actuarial Science Award
Robert W. Batten served as professor and director of Georgia State’s Actuarial Science Program for 25 years.  This award is presented annually to an actuarial science student in recognition of outstanding performance in actuarial mathematics.

2003 Floyd S. Harper Award
The late Dr. Floyd S. Harper joined Georgia State’s faculty in 1958 and was instrumental in the creation of the Department of Risk Management and Insurance’s Actuarial Science Program.  This award is presented annually to a graduating senior in actuarial science, in recognition of outstanding scholastic achievement and character--qualities that Dr. Harper strove to develop in his students.

Zubay co-founded Georgia State’s Actuarial Science Program in 1958.  This award is presented annually to the undergraduate actuarial science major with the highest overall grade-point average, in recognition of academic excellence in actuarial science.  Recipients must have accumulated at least 60, but no more than 90 semester credit hours, and must have completed at least 12 semester credit hours of actuarial science coursework with no grade lower than a “B.”
