Robinson Students Attend Net Impact Conference, Join New Trends in Business

On the first weekend of November, approximately 1,700 MBA students converged in Nashville, Tennessee, at Vanderbilt University for the Net Impact Conference. Net Impact is an international student and professional organization for people who want to make a positive impact on the world through business.

Georgia State University's Net Impact Co-Chairs Jonathan Tescher and Keith Piper attended the conference, along with MBAs from Emory's Goizueta School of Business and Georgia Tech's College of Management.

The conference was a clear indicator of where the trend in academia and business is headed. The largest contingents of Net Impact student chapters were from the top graduate business schools in the country: Yale, Northwestern, University of Michigan, University of California Berkeley, Wharton, Duke and University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. The attendees comprised a sea of young intelligent people who plan to make a positive impact on the world through business.

There were more than 100 sessions in 2 days on topics from greening the supply chain, corporate social responsibility, health care, climate change and sustainability. The panelists came from large companies like Accenture, Starbucks and Sun Microsystems as well as from social investment funds, entrepreneurs and academia. All of the sessions and panelists from the conference are available to view at Net Impact's website: www.NetImpact.org

"We're inspired to bring this energy back to our campus at Georgia State," says GSU Net Impact Co-Chair Jonathan Tescher. "We want to work with students and faculty to facilitate more programs, curriculum and community at GSU in the areas of social and environmental responsibility. This is where the top business schools in the country are heading, and we want the Robinson College of Business to be competitive."
